“here is a bona-fide star who seems completely made of music as she and her instrument all but becomes a part of the natural landscape (of the music) that mixes great beauty with seminal mysticism” by Latin Jazz network.
Miss. Herrera, Cuban born flutist, vocalist, composer and recording artist grew up between two worlds: one, her family’s deep ties to a large set of unique traditions influenced mostly by Afro-Cuban music; the other, the years she spent learning and studying classical music at the Conservatory of Music in her native Havana. Praised often for her unique background that also includes Euro jazz after having finished her studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music (Norway). Herrera developed her incredible enchanting and vibrant own sound. Through the years, Herrera has shared the stage with an extensive list of acclaimed international artists including Chucho Valdez(Cuba) Jan Eggum(Norway) Oslo Chamber Orchestra(Norway) Sanskriti Shrestha (Nepal) just to name a few. Magela Herrera is one of the most exiting female instrumentalists today.
